South American Giant Green Iguana Tip

The South American giant green iguana is a vegetarian. Offer the hatchlings a vegetarian diet of dark green lettuces and chopped mixed vegetables, cabbage varieties, dandelions and green beans. Add a powdered vitamin/mineral supplement to the fresh vegetables twice weekly in order to avoid metabolic bone disease (the reptile equivalent of rickets). Commercial iguana foods, both moist and pelleted, should contain about 14 percent protein for young iguanas, and less for adults.
