Vitamin A Deficiency Tip

The body requires Vitamin A to form healthy skin, mucous membranes and ducts (small tubes that conduct fluids such as urine, saliva, or bile) within organs such as the kidneys and salivary glands. When there is insufficient Vitamin A present in the body, squamous metataplasia (an abnormal growth and thickening of cells) occurs which disrupts the normal function of the skin or organ, most frequently by blocking fluid flow through ducts.
