Tips on Proper Hedgehog Housing

When providing housing, remember that hedgehogs can swim and climb very well. Cages should be high and smooth-walled to prevent escape. Large aquariums (20 gallon) work very well. Shredded newspaper or pelleted, paper bedding materials make the best type of bedding. Hedgehogs also need places to hide. This can be a cardboard box, PVC tubing, or a clay or plastic flowerpot. Since hedgehogs like to swim, a small swimming pool may be provided as well.
